Surmont Heavy Blend is a heavy sour synbit composed of SAGD production and domestic synthetic crude. As such, SHB is a high TAN (1.35 mgKOH/g) though the MCRT is low (7.12 mg/kg) for a 20 API gravity Canadian heavy crude. SHB is produced only at the Surmont Project, operated by Conoco Phillips Canada. Total E&P Canada has an equal 50% ownership stake in the Surmont Project.
